The Uninvited Guest: The Alien Who Lived Among Us
What if I told you that the aliens we search for in the deep cosmos, distant stars, or flying UFOs are actually much closer than we think? They might be in the room next to yours, or walking right beside you on the street, disguised as ordinary human beings…
This is the story of Samar, who lived in a small flat in the bustling city of Jaipur, and his mysterious new flatmate, Kabir. But Kabir was no ordinary human.
A Strange Beginning
Kabir looked exactly like any other guy—two eyes, two hands, and a casual t-shirt. However, his habits were incredibly bizarre. He never slept. Even if Samar woke up at 3:00 AM, he would find Kabir standing on the balcony, staring into the night sky without blinking for hours.
Initially, Samar brushed it off, thinking Kabir suffered from severe insomnia. But things took a weirder turn when Samar noticed that while Kabir never bought grocery or left food wrappers around, the trash can was always filled with empty packets of incense sticks (dhoopbatti).
The Secret Unveiled
One evening, a heavy thunderstorm hit the city, causing a complete blackout. Samar carefully walked down the dark hallway and knocked on Kabir's door. There was no answer. Sensing something unusual, he gently pushed the door open—and his breath caught in his throat.
The room was glowing with a faint, ethereal blue light. Kabir was floating two feet above the ground, completely suspended in mid-air. His body seemed translucent, and his eyes had turned entirely white. He was inhaling the thick smoke of the burning incense sticks as if it were pure oxygen.
Samar was about to scream in terror, but Kabir slowly descended, his feet touching the floor. Within seconds, his body morphed back into its normal human appearance.
"Do not be afraid, Samar," a voice echoed directly inside Samar’s mind. Kabir hadn't even opened his mouth (Telepathy).
Why Was He on Earth?
Trembling with fear, Samar managed to ask, "What... what are you? An alien?"
Kabir smiled gently and nodded. "On my planet, we are called 'The Seekers'. Your planet, Earth, is just a temporary stopover for us."
"So, are you here to invade us? Like in the movies?" Samar questioned, bracing for the worst.
Kabir let out a soft laugh. "Not at all. Our technology is advanced enough to end everything in a split second if we wanted to, but we are here for something far more valuable: human emotions. On my planet, everything runs on cold logic and data. We don't have sadness, joy, friendship, or music. I came here to experience what it feels like to be human."
Over the next few hours, Kabir explained that his species doesn't consume food or water; their energy is sustained entirely through frequencies and aromatic fragrances, which explained his obsession with incense smoke.
A Final Goodbye
For the next few weeks, life went back to a surreal kind of normal. Samar taught Kabir the true meaning of friendship, played old classic melodies for him, and even introduced him to hot tea (which Kabir found incredibly strange but secretly loved).
But one night, a brilliant streak of light appeared in the sky—moving much slower than a regular shooting star.
Kabir placed a hand on Samar’s shoulder. "My time is up. The collective is calling me back."
An overwhelming sadness hit Samar. In just a month, he had formed a bond that transcended the boundaries of this world. "Will you ever return?"
Kabir extended his hand, revealing a small, glowing crystal. "Whenever you listen to music or catch a beautiful fragrance in the air, know that I am remembering you out there. Thank you, Samar. Thank you for teaching me how to feel."
In the blink of an eye, a flash of blinding light enveloped the room, and Kabir vanished. The only thing left behind was a beautiful, lingering aroma.
Conclusion
Even today, when Samar looks up at the starlit sky, he no longer feels lonely or afraid of the unknown. He knows that somewhere out there, in the infinite expanse of the universe, a friend on a distant planet is looking back, remembering the warmth of human friendship.
