Rajasthan Teacher Suspended After Students Allegedly Forced to Remove Clothes During Search Over Missing Money

Protest outside a government school in Sawai Madhopur after allegations of misconduct during a student search.

A government school in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district has come under intense scrutiny after serious allegations surfaced that girl students were allegedly forced to remove their clothes during a search conducted after a teacher reported missing cash. The incident triggered widespread outrage among parents and villagers, leading to protests outside the school and swift action by the Education Department, which has placed the accused teacher under suspension pending further inquiry.

According to officials, the incident took place at a Government Senior Secondary School in the district. Reports indicate that after a female teacher claimed that money had gone missing, a search of students from Classes 9 and 11 was conducted. During the search, allegations emerged that some girl students were asked to remove their clothes in an attempt to locate the missing money.

The allegations quickly spread through the village, sparking anger among students' families and local residents. On Wednesday, a large number of parents and villagers gathered outside the school, staged a protest and reportedly locked the school's main gate, demanding strict action against those responsible. Protesters alleged that the students were subjected to humiliation and that the incident had caused significant mental distress.

Following the protest, district education authorities initiated an inquiry into the matter. Preliminary findings reportedly indicated serious lapses in the manner the search was conducted. Based on the initial investigation, the Education Department suspended the accused teacher with immediate effect while ordering a detailed departmental inquiry. Officials stated that further action would depend on the outcome of the investigation.

Education officials said that government schools are required to follow established child protection guidelines and that any search involving students must respect their dignity, privacy and legal rights. Authorities emphasised that schools are expected to provide a safe environment for children and that any violation of these standards would be dealt with seriously.

Local administrative officials also visited the school after the protest to speak with parents, school management and teachers. Efforts were made to calm the situation, and assurances were given that the allegations would be investigated impartially. Classes were affected for some time due to the demonstration, but officials worked to restore normal functioning at the school.

The incident has drawn attention to the importance of safeguarding children's rights within educational institutions. Child rights advocates say that even during disciplinary proceedings or investigations, students must never be subjected to treatment that compromises their dignity or causes psychological harm. They have called for strict adherence to child protection norms and proper training for school staff in handling sensitive situations.

Parents who participated in the protest demanded that responsibility be fixed after the investigation and that measures be introduced to ensure similar incidents do not occur in the future. They also sought counselling and support for the affected students, arguing that the alleged incident had left many children distressed.

As of now, the departmental inquiry is ongoing, and authorities have not released its final findings. Officials have stated that if the allegations are fully substantiated, further disciplinary or legal action may be considered in accordance with applicable rules and laws. Until then, the suspension of the teacher remains an interim administrative measure while the investigation continues.
