A shocking murder case has emerged from Khargone district in Madhya Pradesh, where a 45-year-old man was allegedly killed by his wife following a prolonged domestic dispute. Police have arrested the accused woman after an investigation reportedly found that she had attacked her husband with an axe while he was asleep and later attempted to mislead investigators by claiming an unknown person had committed the crime.
According to police officials, the incident took place in Chainpur police station area, where the victim, identified as Ida Dudwe, was found dead inside his house with severe head injuries. Family members and villagers immediately informed the police, following which a forensic team and local officers reached the scene to begin an investigation.
During the initial inquiry, the victim's wife, Rumli Bai, allegedly told investigators that an unidentified person had entered the house during the night and murdered her husband before fleeing. However, police found several inconsistencies in her statement, prompting a more detailed investigation.
Officers examined the crime scene, questioned family members and neighbours, and collected forensic evidence. According to the police, the evidence did not support the woman's version of events. During sustained questioning, investigators concluded that the murder was allegedly committed inside the house and that there were no signs of forced entry by an outsider.
Police said the accused later allegedly confessed to attacking her husband with an axe while he was asleep. Investigators believe the couple had been facing marital disputes for a long time.
According to the police investigation, the woman suspected that her husband was in contact with another woman and feared that he might leave her and their children to marry again. Investigators say this suspicion had led to frequent arguments between the couple over several months.
Police believe the alleged attack was the result of these ongoing disputes. The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene before any medical help could arrive.
After the incident, the accused allegedly tried to divert the investigation by fabricating a story that an unknown assailant had carried out the murder. However, forensic findings and witness statements reportedly contradicted her account, leading investigators to uncover what they believe actually happened.
Police have recovered the axe believed to have been used in the crime and sent it for forensic examination. The victim's body was sent for post-mortem examination, and the report is expected to form an important part of the investigation.
Authorities have registered a murder case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further legal proceedings are underway. Investigators are also examining whether any additional evidence or witness testimony could provide further details about the circumstances leading to the killing.
The case has drawn attention across the region due to the tragic circumstances surrounding the incident. According to police, the couple had nine children, many of whom are now left without their parents following the alleged crime.
Officials have stated that the investigation is continuing and that all evidence will be presented before the court. The accused remains in police custody as the legal process moves forward.
