The Atlanta Falcons delivered one of their biggest performances of the 2026 NFL season on Monday night, defeating the New Orleans Saints 45-24 at Caesars Superdome.
Bijan Robinson was the standout performer for Atlanta, rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns as the Falcons controlled the game from the opening minutes. The victory moved Atlanta to 2-2 while New Orleans dropped to 1-3.
Bijan Robinson Sets the Tone Early
Robinson immediately put the Saints under pressure with a 59-yard touchdown run on Atlanta's third offensive play.
The explosive run gave the Falcons an early advantage and helped establish Atlanta's dominance on the ground. Robinson later added another touchdown as the Falcons continued to pull away.
Falcons Score Five Rushing Touchdowns
Atlanta's rushing attack was the biggest difference between the two teams. The Falcons finished with 207 rushing yards while New Orleans managed only 50.
Brian Robinson Jr. also had a huge night, scoring three rushing touchdowns and adding 62 rushing yards.
With both Robinsons finding the end zone repeatedly, Atlanta was able to control possession and keep the Saints defense under constant pressure.
Michael Penix Jr. Delivers Another Strong Performance
Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. completed 15 of 20 passes for 223 yards and one touchdown.
His biggest passing play came in the fourth quarter when he connected with Jahan Dotson for a 31-yard touchdown. The score pushed Atlanta further ahead and effectively ended any hopes of a Saints comeback.
Saints Struggle to Stop Atlanta
New Orleans quarterback Tyler Shough threw for 286 yards, but the Saints offense struggled to convert that passing production into points.
Shough attempted 48 passes and did not throw a touchdown until the final minutes of the game. The Saints also struggled badly on the ground, finishing with only 50 rushing yards.
Alvin Kamara Scores Twice
Alvin Kamara provided one of the few bright spots for New Orleans. The veteran running back scored two rushing touchdowns, including one early in the fourth quarter that briefly brought the Saints closer.
However, Atlanta immediately responded and maintained control of the game.
A Tough Night on a Historic Saints Anniversary
The loss was particularly painful for New Orleans because the game was part of celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the Saints' emotional return to the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina.
The occasion recalled the famous 2006 game against Atlanta, when Steve Gleason's blocked punt became one of the most iconic moments in Saints history.
Two decades later, the Falcons spoiled the anniversary celebration with a dominant road victory.
Falcons Move to 2-2
The victory gives Atlanta a 2-2 record after four games. The Falcons have now won two consecutive road games, including their earlier 35-14 victory over Green Bay.
For New Orleans, the defeat leaves the team at 1-3 and creates more pressure heading into the next part of the NFL season.
Why the Falcons Win Is Trending Worldwide
The Falcons-Saints rivalry generated enormous online interest following the game. Searches for the Saints, Falcons and Bijan Robinson surged sharply as fans reacted to Atlanta's 45-24 victory.
Bijan Robinson's two-touchdown performance, Atlanta's five rushing touchdowns and the historic Superdome anniversary made the game one of the biggest sports stories of the day.
What Comes Next for Both Teams?
Atlanta will look to build on its two-game winning streak and continue climbing in the NFC South. The Falcons' combination of a powerful running game and efficient passing could make them an increasingly difficult opponent.
New Orleans, meanwhile, must quickly find answers after allowing 45 points at home. Improving the run defense and turning passing yards into touchdowns will be among the team's biggest priorities.
The 45-24 result has already become one of the most searched NFL stories of the day, putting Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons firmly in the spotlight.
